Bowen & Emmett Techniques

Bowen Technique

This therapy is non-invasive and can be performed through light clothing. It does not involve massage or heavy manipulation. Gentle, rolling movements are made over muscle and soft tissue, interspersed with periods of rest, as the body is allowed to process the treatment.

Many clients find this therapy a remarkably simple and yet extremely effective treatment for all kinds of health problems.

The technique involves gentle and precise manipulations of soft tissue in the body which release pain and tension and initiate the body’s natural healing abilities. In between sets of moves there are short breaks to allow the body time to respond to the moves made. During these breaks people often feel subtle and fine adjustments happening in the body. The therapy sets a process up in the body that can last for a week – so the full extent of the treatment can be appreciated after this time.

Treatment lasts for about forty-five minutes. Dramatic results can occur after the first session, although it can take up to three or four sessions. However, there are no limits to how many treatments one can receive, and regular top-ups are of great benefit for general health maintenance and to help prevent re-injury.

Emmett Technique

A new bodywork therapy that involves a combination of direct pressure and gentle movement on certain areas in the body. It promotes the release of certain muscle groups and allows the client’s body to return to a state of balance.  The results are often dramatic, and can be instantaneous, with most clients recognising the improvements in pain levels and range of movement before leaving the clinic.

It is essential to carefully assess the muscle groupings affecting particular areas of pain in the body, in order to fully effect change. As an Emmet practitioner I have recieved intensive training in this area, enabling me to make a full assessment and use the appropriate combination of moves to stimulate the body’s healing. Emmet practitioners are also trained in special language skills based on the principles of NLP, which encourage the client to recognise and enhance the changes achieved, adding to the successful outcome of the work.

Having trained in NLP training separately, I very much appreciate the powerful effect that both these therapies have, and have enjoyed integrating them using the methods outlined by the founder, Ross Emmett.
